A Few Rare Hot Wheels to Look Out For!

I have said it a few times but when it comes to Hot Wheels, I am far from an expert. Car collectors are a breed all their own and they tend to know their stuff. Now, this is not to say I can’t do a little research because, I can, and I love to!

Don’t be fooled by these small replicas because they can pack quite the punch! Even today they retail for around .99 cents which makes them easy to buy, but the right ones, well they hold a history.

Here are a few Hot wheels that are worth a pretty penny… if you can find them.

First issued in 1974, Rodger Dodgers with a black interior aren’t hard to come by, but if you see one with white-colored interior, well you might want to pick it up. The White interior are rare and can go for up to $3k to the right collector.

Following hot on its heels is the 74 Blue Rodger Dodger which was produced in such low numbers it is highly collectable.

The 1977 Datsun Z inspired Z-Whiz was the 1st Japanese import vehicle to be cast by Hot Wheels and will likely fetch close to $3,000.00 itself!

The 1969 Red Barron with white interior is very much like that 74 Dodger in that it isn’t too difficult to find with black interior, however, the white interior could pull you over $3,500.00 smackers!

Here is the 1968 31 Brown Woody. This guy is super rare. It is believed only a handful exist which brings its price up to near $8k!

The 1968 Brown with white interior Camaro is one of those nearly mythical cars. It is so rare that many believe it was only a display and never massed produced. Either way, these are estimated to pull in over $3,000.00.

1968 Camaro, Lime over chrome! This one looks amazing! There are plenty of Lime (known in the Hot Wheels world as Antifreeze) cars out there but this guy is special. It was used for advertising purposes. The car was seen in commercials and today, only about 20 of these bad boys are thought to exist bringing it a hefty asking price of $25k!

And the highest pricer on our list, the 1969 Rear Loading, Pink Beach Bomber!

This is sort of a cheat because it never hit the actual market, but some do exist as prototypes from Mattel employees. The design was found to be top heavy so it never went into actual production which means IF you can get your hands on one you could score quite the payday. These awesome vans are reportedly going for somewhere in the range of $175,000!

So, there you have it. Don’t misunderstand, there are A LOT more Hot Wheels out there worth money, these are just a few of the ones I found cool.
